Obama's conciliatory unifying tone fell flat today.

There were two big losers in last night's midterm election--congressional Democrats who saw their House majority erased and their Senate majoirty greatly reduced, and the Gallup Poll, which produced the worst final vote forecast of any major national poll.
Dear Madame Speaker,

A few days before Obama won the White House, Bill Clinton joined him for a late-night rally in Kissimmee, Fla. Clinton, who became president after 12 years as a governor, told the crowd not to worry about Obama's lack of executive background.
This Gulf oil spill is man made and off shore oil drilling is one of the most heavily government regulated activities of commercial capitalism. The rigs are regularly inspected. Drilling is impossible without multiple permits.
Eight in 10 criticize the way BP's handled it – and more people give the federal government's response a negative rating than did the response to Hurricane Katrina.
The young Texans who seemed genetically incapable of viewing any criticism of George W Bush as less than treason may have gone but a similar cult has replaced them. The Obamatrons who now populate Washington have iPads under their arms and greet each other with fist bumps.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 52% of U.S. voters believe the average member of the Tea Party movement has a better understanding of the issues facing America today than the average member of Congress.
There's nothing new here. Hatred has been part of politics for some time.
As you may have heard, President Obama and the Democrats in Congress are preparing a plan to change the health care system. From what you have heard about this plan, do you favor or oppose Obama and the Democrats' health care proposal?
President Obama's fiscal 2011 budget will generate nearly $10 trillion in cumulative budget deficits over the next 10 years, $1.2 trillion more than the administration projected, and raise the federal debt to 90 percent of the nation's economic output by 2020, the Congressional B …

Indoor tanning salons will charge customers a 10 percent tax beginning today in just one of the changes Americans will see as a result of the U.S. health-care overhaul signed into law by President Barack Obama.
The question with the passage Sunday of Democratic health legislation now becomes: Who will arrive first to slay this monster, the voters in November or the U.S. Supreme Court?
The American people are never permanently thwarted. President Obama's health care legislation can and will be repealed.
In fact, health care was the policy area that drew the second highest negative rating, with 58 percent registering disapproval. The highest negative rating was 62 percent for his handling of the federal deficit.
That's because the battle over health care is merely a front in a larger war. Thanks to President Obama's statist agenda, America's new civil war is, at heart, the mother of all culture wars.
Maybe you remember the images from last summer with hundreds if not thousands of grey haired Americans attending town halls all over the country to give their representatives an earful.

Now, a new Gallup Poll finds, Obama's public approval rating has suddenly fallen to the worst level since he took office however many years ago that seems. He was right around 70% in January of 2009. Today, Gallup reports, the ex-senator has plunged to a 46% approval rating.
Large majorities of Americans continue to oppose the health care plan; as of March 8, Rasmussen reported 53 percent against, including 41 percent who strongly oppose.

Even one of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's floor whips, U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch, says a proposed parliamentary move to pass health-care reform would be "disingenuous" and harm the credibility of Congress.
"I was afraid of what we had already been getting in Massachusetts, and at that point in 2008, I was aware that it wasn't working," he said.
Obama has urged people in his speeches to "knock on doors. Talk to your neighbors. Pick up the phone. When you hear an argument by the water cooler and somebody is saying this or that about it, say no, no. no, hold on a second."
Hillary Rodham Clinton's State Department is spending $5.4 million to buy fine crystal stemware for American embassies -- but it won't give the US economy much of a boost.
it is good to find a fertile environment to format jedi meditations and mind training programs.

Top Jedi,
just coming back from Louisiana where we found nothing but damage. Currently in Butte Montana about 150 miles from home. I had mentioned to you that we were going in Oct. Those folks down there need social skills as well as hurricane repair. Joe
Too bad you already had a RAV. I would recommend you for such based on your Hurricane Ike articles alone. Thanks for being here.

You've just been tagged. Now spill the beans! Unless, of course, you don't want to.

— Miss Dev
Topjedi, I really appreciate your thought-provocking articles, and the ability you have to disagree politely. You're setting an example for many of us.
Cheers.
We can never get enough articles from TopJedi ;)
— Ilyanep
On my watch list from beta days, TopJedi never ceases to provide an excellent combination of thought provoking articles and interesting seeds. A all-rounder who excels all round.
It's kind of cool cause TopJedi has yoda and I have a fox with a lightsabre.
Except for the fact that we'd be battling each other :D
— Ilyanep
TopJedi is so well balanced in his writing and his commentary that one has to look very carefully in order to divine his politics. His polite nature, ability to be non-confrontational, along with his skill of acknowledging the validity of another person's argument Truly make him a "Jedi" master. If he had not chosen to give himself his handle, it surly would have been awarded to him by the community.
You should get the last notch in your Vinacity after giving up your subdomain. That was a noble thing.
You rock, TJ!
Stop it with your Jedi mind tricks! I can't stop writing and seeding conservative stories. I'm a liberal at heart and you won't let me be who I am!
— kevinb66
I can't let your comment column continue without credit for your exemplary social conscience, TopJedi. The Vine Contributors suggestion and your own outstanding compassion are most inspiring!

TopJedi was one of our first contributing members. I cannot believe how productive he has been over the months. Seeding like a madman in the beginning and now putting forth article after article that find their way into my clippings.
It's rare to find such a balance in a single contributor: clarity of thought, a keen ability to express himself, and as Brad mentioned, a sense of responsibility and courtesy when addressing others.
Here I see commendations from across the political spectrum, by many of our top contributors. The reason: respect.
TopJedi is a high-order truthseeker, using the power of the force to cut to the heart of a variety of issues. His ability to do battle is formidable, yet he remains courteous and respectful even when slicing your argument to pieces. His point of view embodies true conservatism. If you don't follow TopJedi's postings, you're missing out on a very important point of view.
I cannot believe that my watchlist existed for so long lacking TopJedi's name. Fear not, for the situation has been remedied and I have been enjoying TopJedi's column for some time now. Some of the best and most original work on Newsvine can be found right here.
Whether it's a great new article, or a wise comment. TopJedi continues to out do himself at every turn. Not a Jedi to reckon with.
Always illuminating, TopJedi, and sometimes completely stunning!
— Djehuty
Indeed. The Force is strong with this one.
Thank you for your kind comment.
I love your writing style and I think that your articles are very well researched and presented. I hope you keep on writing those great articles (and maybe one day I can get to writing some of my own :P).
— Ilyanep
Jedi, your kung fu is very good!
Fair, balanced, and unafraid!
Everyone can take a page from TopJedi's playbook.
